Con l’African American Festival (che avrà luogo il 21-22 giugno a Baltimora al Camden Yards Sports Complex) che si terrà il mese prossimo, i riflettori saranno puntati sul gruppo Mint Condition. Ecco 10 cose che forse non sapete sul gruppo:
1. Fu scoperto e firmato da Jimmy Jam e Terry Lewis alla Perspective Records nel 1989.
2. Nominato tre volte per i Soul Train Awards (Best R&B/Soul Single by a Group, Band or Duo for What Kind Of Man Would I Be- 1997), Best R&B/Soul Album by a Group, Band or Duo for Definition of a Band- 1997) e (Best R&B/Soul Album by a Duo or Group for Livin’ the Luxury Brown- 2005)
3. La loro ballata, “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” è rimasta nella classifica di Billboard per 34 settimane ed è stata certificata oro dalla RIAA.
4. I Mint Condition hanno partecipato alla serie biografica TV One, Unsung, aprile 2013.
5. Si sono uniti a Prince nel dicembre 2010, per il suo tour Welcome 2 America.
6. La band ha iniziato nel 1984 a St. Paul, Minn., alla Central High School.
7. Uno dei membri originali del gruppo, Ray Lynch, è il figlio di Roger Troutman (Computer Love).
8. Hanno registrato album su Perspective, Elektra, Image, e ora Shanachie Records.
9. Attualmente il gruppo è composto dai membri Stokley Williams, Ricky Kinchen, Homer O’Dell, Larry Waddell e Jeffrey Allen.
10. Il loro progetto pubblicato indipendentemente, Livin’ The Luxury Brown, ha raggiunto il n. 1 della Independent Album Charts nel 2005.
