歴史

ポンカ族は1817年に最初の、1825年に2番目の、1858年に3番目の、1865年に4番目の条約を合衆国政府と締結した。 それぞれ、彼らの平和的な意思を確認し、彼らが住んでいた地域の貿易を規制する試みであった。

1868年の政府とスー族/ラコタ族の間の条約により、ポンカ族が主張していた土地はスー族に譲渡された。 その結果、1877年にポンカ族はアメリカによってインディアンテリトリー、特にクアポー居留地に強制的に移住させられた。 この年、2つのグループが移動し、合計700人弱の部族員が移動しました。 翌年、ポンカ族はアーカンソー川の西岸からソルトフォーク川の両岸の土地から自分たちの入植地を設立しました。 ソルト・フォーク・リバーがアーカンソー・リバーと合流する地点から2マイルの地点に代理店が設立された。
